LinkedIn Ads Report Explained

Sync LinkedIn Ads data to Agorapulse!

Agorapulse's LinkedIn Ads reporting integration offers a centralized solution for reviewing paid campaign performance of LinkedIn ad accounts. This feature enables users to analyze advertising impact directly, eliminating the need for manual data compilation from LinkedIn Campaign Manager or other sources.

To view LinkedIn Ads data, you must first connect all relevant ad accounts by following these steps. More information on selecting a reporting period is available here. Key results and objectives must be configured in LinkedIn Campaign Manager to populate values.

It is not possible to export the LinkedIn Ads report from Agorapulse.

Please Note: The ability to sync data from LinkedIn Ads is available depending on the subscription plan you have. If you would like to change your plan to access this feature, feel free to reach out to us here.



How to view the LinkedIn Ads Report

Once your LinkedIn Ad account has been connected, you can access the report by following these steps:

  1. Click the Analytics icon in the left-hand navigation menu

  2. Select Reports

  3. Expand the Ad accounts section

  4. Choose your LinkedIn Ad account from the list

To add or remove an ad account to/from the LinkedIn Ads report from the Ad accounts section of the Reports tool:

  1. Click Manage Ad Account in the top right of the Ad accounts section

  2. Use the toggle to turn the LinkedIn ad account on or off

When toggled on, a report will be generated and made accessible under the Ad accounts section in Reports.

The LinkedIn Ads report is organized into four separate tabs, providing granular insights into your ad account's performance. These sections are:

  • Overview - A high-level performance summary of the ad account

  • Campaigns - A detailed view of all campaigns linked to the ad account

  • Ad Sets - A granular view of ad sets within each campaign

  • Ads - A specific drill-down on individual ads



Overview

The Overview section of the LinkedIn Ads report is designed to provide a snapshot of key metrics, top-performing campaigns and ads during the selected reporting period.


Metrics available:

  • Running campaigns - Total number of campaigns active at any point during the selected reporting period

  • Spent - Total amount spent during the selected period

  • Reach - The number of unique LinkedIn members who saw your ads

  • Impressions - Total number of times your ads were shown on screen (can include multiple views by the same user)

  • Clicks - Total number of times users clicked on your ad elements

  • CTR (Click-Through Rate) - The percentage of impressions that resulted in a click (Clicks divided by Impressions)

  • CPC (Cost per Click) - The average amount spent per click (Total Spend divided by Clicks)

  • CPM (Cost per Mille): The average cost per 1000 impressions (Total Spend divided by Impressions x 1000)

Top campaigns

The Top campaigns section in the Overview tab of the LinkedIn Ads report displays the two best-performing campaigns and can be sorted by Cost per key result and Key results.

Metrics available:

  • Objective - The business goal selected for the group (e.g., website visits, job applications)

  • Key result (KR) - The primary outcome or conversion tracked for the campaign

  • Cost per KR - The total spend divided by the number of key results/conversions

Top ads

The Top campaigns section in the Overview tab of the LinkedIn Ads report displays the top three ads by performance, and can be sorted by Cost per key result and Key results.

Metrics available:

  • Objective - The business goal selected for the group (e.g., website visits, job applications)

  • Key result (KR) - The primary outcome or conversion tracked for the campaign

  • Cost per KR - The total spend divided by the number of key results/conversions



Campaign groups

The Campaign groups tab in the LinkedIn Ads report displays performance data for top-level groupings of your LinkedIn ad account. These groups allow you to organize and manage multiple campaigns under a shared objective or initiative.

Filters available: Status


Metrics available:

  • Status - Indicates whether the group is Active, Paused, Archived, Completed, or Deleted

  • Reach - Unique users who saw any ads within the campaign group

  • Impressions - Total views across all campaigns within the group

  • Clicks - Total number of times users clicked on ad elements within the group

  • CTR - Ratio of clicks to impressions

  • CPC - Average cost per click

  • CPM - Average cost per 1000 impressions

  • Engagement - Total interactions with your ads, including clicks, likes, shares and comments

  • Spent - Total ad spend within the group

  • Budget - Allocated budget for the group

  • Created on - Date the group was created

Note: You can click See campaigns to open the Campaigns tab with the Campaign group filter automatically applied. Click Open in LinkedIn to open the LinkedIn Campaign Manager.



Campaigns

The Campaigns tab in the LinkedIn Ads report displays performance data for individual campaigns. These campaigns are directly nested under campaign groups and manage ad creatives.

Filters available: Status, Objective, Campaign group

Metrics available:

  • Campaign group - The name of the group to which the campaign belongs

  • Status - Indicates whether the campaign is Active, Paused, Archived, Completed, or Deleted

  • Reach - Unique users who saw any ads within the campaign

  • Impressions - Total views across the campaign

  • Clicks - Total number of times users clicked on ad elements within the campaign

  • CTR - Ratio of clicks to impressions

  • CPC - Average cost per click

  • CPM - Average cost per 1000 impressions

  • Engagement - Total interactions with your ads, including clicks, likes, shares and comments

  • Spent - Total ad spend within the group

  • Objective - The business goal selected for the campaign (e.g., website visits, job applications)

  • Budget - The allocated budget for the campaign

  • Key result (KR) - The primary outcome or conversion tracked for the campaign

  • # of KR - The number of key results or conversions achieved

Ads

The Ads tab in the LinkedIn Ads report shows performance data for individual ad creatives. This section enables detailed analysis of ad performance within campaigns.

Filters available: Status, Objective, Campaign group, Campaign

Metrics available:

  • Campaign - The name of the individual campaign within the group

  • Campaign group - The name of the group to which the campaign belongs

  • Status - Indicates whether the ad is Active, Paused, Archived, Completed, or Deleted

  • Reach - Unique users who saw the ad

  • Impressions - Total views across the ad

  • Clicks - Total number of times users clicked on ad elements

  • CTR - Ratio of clicks to impressions

  • CPC - Average cost per click

  • CPM - Average cost per 1000 impressions

  • Engagement - Total interactions with your ad, including clicks, likes, shares and comments

  • Spent - Total ad spend for the creative

  • Objective - The business goal selected for the ad (e.g., website visits, job applications)

  • Budget - The allocated budget for the ad

  • Key result (KR) - The primary outcome or conversion tracked for the ad

  • # of KR - The number of key results or conversions achieved

  • Cost per KR - The total spend divided by the number of key results/conversions
