Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration explained

Learn how Agorapulse's MCP allows you to integrate with AI tools

Agorapulse's Model Context Protocol (MCP) Connector allows you to integrate Agorapulse with conversational AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, and Microsoft Copilot, enabling you to manage your social media directly from these AI tools.

This integration enables you to access your social media data, analyze performance, create content, and manage your calendar using natural language commands within the AI interface.

In this article, we will cover the following:

Eligibility and requirements

The MCP connector is available to all Agorapulse users, excluding Legacy plan holders.

Please Note: The MCP connector is currently in beta, and pricing is subject to change.

To use the connector, you must have an active subscription to one of the following AI services:

  • Claude: Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise.

  • ChatGPT: Go, Plus, Pro, or Team.

  • Copilot: Copilot Studio

You will also need to have an Admin role on your Claude, ChatGPT, or Copilot accounts.

Using the connector

Once connected, you can interact with Agorapulse using natural language. The AI assistant will automatically call the appropriate Agorapulse tools to fulfill your request and present the results in a clear, conversational format.

Please note: The MCP connector works with Claude and ChatGPT mobile apps, as long as you have a compatible subscription. The connector also works with Claude Desktop, web, and mobile.

Capabilities of the MCP Connector

The Agorapulse MCP connector enables you to perform several key actions across five main categories:

Inbox

  • Read inbox items across one or several social profiles, newest first: organic comments, ad comments, reel comments, private conversations, mentions, story mentions, and reviews for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, X (Twitter), and Threads
Note: Retrieved items display the moderation history and, for comments, the post it belongs to.

  • Filter items by inbox state, for example, items still to review

  • Filter items still waiting for approval

  • Read a private conversation, message by message, with date filtering

  • Reply to an item publicly, or privately to a public item (Facebook, Instagram, or X), with control over who gets mentioned on X.

Please note: Replies follow Inbox approval workflows. If an active workflow covers the profile and your user, the reply is queued for a manager’s approval instead of being published straight away. You cannot reply to an item whose reply is already waiting for approval. Your AI agent will ask you to confirm a reply before sending it.

Listening

  • Read the items a Listening search retrieved, newest first. Social posts and comments, as well as news articles, blog posts, and forum posts

  • Filter by search, publication date range, source (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, web news, blogs, and forums), and sentiment
Note: If a date range is not set, the last seven days will be retrieved.

  • View Listening metrics: volume, engagement, sentiment, and word clouds, for Standard and Competitive searches.

Publishing and content management

  • Create draft posts for your social media profiles. Images and videos added to your posts must be shared as public URLs
Note: Each draft is created for one profile. To post on three networks, your AI agent creates three drafts

  • Search and create calendar notes

Please note: Network-specific options (first comment, threads, Pinterest board, Google Business events) are not supported through the MCP.

Analytics and insights

  • Get audience demographics and follower insights for your profiles

  • Analyze content performance metrics, including engagement, reach, and impressions

  • Track brand performance across multiple social accounts

  • Identify your top-performing content by specific metrics

  • Monitor community management metrics, including replies, messages, and response times

  • Analyze the performance of posts with specific labels

  • Build any report available in Agorapulse Reports: your AI agent finds the metrics available for your profiles and computes the one you need

  • Get the demographics of your video viewers (age, gender, country, region, city), where the network provides them

  • Compare paid and organic performance for posts with specific labels

  • Analyze the sentiment of the messages you received (positive, negative, neutral)

Organization management

  • List all your organizations and workspaces

  • Access your connected social profiles

  • View workspace and organization settings

  • List your profile groups, the folders used to organize your profiles, for example by client or brand

Please note: The number of available MCP tools will increase over time

Example prompts

Once the AI Assistant is connected, you can interact with Agorapulse using natural language. The AI assistant will automatically call the appropriate Agorapulse tools to fulfil your request and present the results in a clear, conversational format.

The table below shows some example prompts you can use:

Limitations

The MCP connector can create drafts, but it does not publish or schedule content. Drafts never go out on their own: review, schedule, and publish them from Agorapulse.

Security and privacy

The connection uses OAuth, meaning you log in with your own Agorapulse account and never share an API key. Your AI agent sees exactly what your user can see in Agorapulse, with your role and permissions. You can disconnect from your AI agent at any time in your AI agent’s settings.

No data is stored permanently by the MCP connector; it only retrieves data when you make a request. How your AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Microsoft) processes the data shared in your conversations depends on your settings and agreement with that provider.

MCP Connector - Frequently Asked Questions

In this section, we cover the questions that will assist in troubleshooting the Model Context Protocol Connector.

Can I view which AI agents can be connected inside of Agorapulse?

Currently supported AI agents can be viewed inside Agorapulse by:

  1. Click on your avatar and select Personal Settings

  2. Choose the Connectors sub-menu

  3. Under AI agents that can act on your account, you will see the AI agents that are currently supported by Agorapulse

  4. Click Connect under the relevant AI agent

  5. On the next page, you will see two sections:

    • Configure your MCP client: In this section, you will be able to copy the MCP Server URL that can be used to connect your AI agent to Agorapulse's MCP

    • Try out some prompts: Copy and paste these prompts to get started with our MCP

Why is the Connector not showing my data?

If the MCP Connector is not showing your data, ensure that the following conditions are met:

  • You are logged into the correct Agorapulse account.

  • You have the necessary permissions in Agorapulse to access the data you are requesting.

  • Your Agorapulse subscription is active

Why does the connection fail during authorization?

If the connection fails during authorization, try the following steps:

  • Clear your browser cache and cookies.

  • Make sure you are using a supported browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge).

  • Check that pop-ups are not blocked for claude.ai or chatgpt.com.

  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting the integration.

What are "Permission Denied" errors?

If you are seeing "Permission Denied" errors, this usually indicates that you do not have the correct role in Agorapulse. Check with your Organization Owner or Manager to ensure you have appropriate permissions.

Why am I receiving a 502 error when using "get_labeled_post_performance"?

The get_labeled_post_performance endpoint needs the exact name of the label, and the time period needs to be clearly specified "Since -> Until"

Example:
Use Agorapulse, get_labeled_post_performance for:

Organization: (name of the organization)
Profile: Social network_profile number (The profile number is in the Agorapulse URL when checking your reports or profile name). Example: facebook_644340

Label: Name of the label
Date range: since **** until ***** (ex. since 2026-01-01 until 2026-06-26)

Why does my AI agent ask for permission before listing my organizations or profiles?

Some AI agents ask for confirmation before using certain tools. The tools that list your organizations, workspaces, profiles, and groups only read data and never change anything in your account. You can approve them, or allow them permanently in your AI agent’s settings.

Is there a usage limit?

Yes: up to 1,000 requests every 30 minutes. If you reach this usage limit, wait a few minutes before trying again.
