Facebook metric deprecation (June 2026)

Learn how Facebook metrics will be affected by recent changes to Meta's API.

Starting June 16, 2026, Facebook deprecated the API field previously used to retrieve paid reach at the page level, which affects all third-party apps like Agorapulse. Agorapulse has updated how paid reach data is synchronized in your reports to account for this change.

This article explains what has changed, how reach data is now calculated for each metric level, and what needs to be done to keep your reports accurate.

In this article, we will cover:

What has changed

On June 16, 2026, Facebook removed the page_impressions_paid_unique API field. Agorapulse previously used this field to retrieve paid reach directly from the Facebook Graph API.

To continue providing paid reach data where possible, Agorapulse now retrieves it from the Facebook Marketing API, the same source used for paid reactions and paid shares. This method requires that the Facebook ad account used for your paid content is connected to your Agorapulse workspace.

How Facebook reach worked previously

Previously, Agorapulse retrieved your page's daily paid reach directly from the Facebook Graph API. Combined with total reach, this allowed us to calculate:

  • Total reach: Pulled from the Graph API

  • Paid reach: Pulled from the Graph API (now deprecated)

  • Organic reach: Calculated as Total − Paid

How Facebook reach works now

The impact of this change differs depending on whether you are viewing Page Metrics or Post Metrics in your reports.

Facebook Post Metrics

Facebook Page Metrics (Reach)

An organic/paid breakdown remains available for page-level reach metrics, provided your Facebook ad account is connected to Agorapulse. The calculation is as follows:

  • Total reach: Retrieved from the Facebook Graph API

  • Paid reach: Retrieved from the Facebook Marketing API via your connected ad account

  • Organic reach: Calculated as Total minus Paid

Please note: If no ad accounts are connected to your Agorapulse workspace, Agorapulse cannot retrieve paid reach. In this case, paid reach will display as 0 and organic reach will equal total reach.

Facebook Post Metrics (Reach)

Due to the API deprecation, Agorapulse can no longer provide an organic/paid breakdown for individual post-level reach metrics. Total reach remains available and reflects the Total Reach (organic + paid) for each post.

What you need to do

To ensure paid reach data continues to appear accurately in your Facebook Page reports, please follow the steps below:

  1. Verify that your Facebook ad account is connected to your Agorapulse workspace.

  2. If an ad account isn't connected, please check out this article to learn how to connect an ad account to Agorapulse.

If your ad account is already connected, no further actions are required.

Impact on historical data

Data synchronized before June 16, 2026 was collected using the previous method and is not affected by this change. Reports covering periods before this date will continue to display organic and paid reach breakdowns as originally recorded.
