How can I mention accounts in my posts?
How can I mention accounts in my posts?
Updated over a week ago

It's possible to mention a Facebook page, Instagram account, Twitter account, LinkedIn company page and LinkedIn personal profile in your posts.

How do I mention an account in a post?

To mention an account in a post scheduled on a single social network:

  • Type @ and type the name of the account

  • The list of existing accounts that match your search appears

  • Click on the account you want to mention

Please note that the Instagram, Twitter & TikTok API won't allow us to show a list of accounts matching your search. To make sure the mention is correct, click Verify the account exists on Instagram/TikTok/Twitter*: you'll be taken to the corresponding profile.

*The ability to search for usernames on Twitter was removed from the Twitter API on September 2023

How do I mention an account on multiple social networks?

To mention an account in a post scheduled on multiple social networks:

  • Type @ and type the mentioned name (The mentioned name is only a placeholder: it will not appear in your posts, it's just a way for you to see that you've included a mention in the text box)

  • Click Add mentions

  • The Add mention dialog box appears

  • For each social network you are publishing on, type the name of the account to see the list of accounts that match your search and click on the one you want to mention

  • Once you're done setting mentions for all social networks, click Add

Network API Limitations

Facebook

  • It's not possible to mention Facebook personal profiles as it's against the ToS.

  • It's not possible to search for and mention a Facebook Page which is country-restricted.

  • It's not possible for Agorapulse to detect if a Facebook Page does not allow tagging by other people/pages. If the mention appears as plain text, it's possible a Page has this option disabled, per their settings.

Instagram

  • It's not possible to tag private Instagram accounts in an image or video

Twitter

  • It is no longer possible to search for users using partial usernames, you must now type in their full username. However, we will provide you with the option to open up Twitter natively to verify the username.

LinkedIn

  • It is not possible to mention the personal profiles of LinkedIn users who aren't following the page.

  • It is not possible to mention personal profiles when multiple LinkedIn social profiles are selected; however, a workaround is to customize individual posts, enabling the mention of personal profiles.

  • It is not possible to mention LinkedIn personal profiles when scheduling a post on a LinkedIn personal profile, it is only available for Company pages.

  • It is not possible to mention a profile if they have privacy settings enabled.

  • It is not possible to mention a profile if they have their mentions disabled.

  • It is not possible to mention a profile if they do not have an English LinkedIn profile.

Tip: For LinkedIn mentions, we recommend:

  1. To search for the page using keywords, instead of the exact page name - this will work better.

  2. Not to use special characters or letters with "accent", such as "é" or "ó" - use "e" or "o" instead.
