Why do I need to get access to Google Analytics in the first place? What is Social Media ROI?

Social Media ROI is a feature that allows you to measure how specific posts, conversations, social profiles (and more) are helping you reach business goals like generating traffics, leads or revenues. To get those unique insights, we combine Google Analytics insights with Agorapulse data. You need to get access to the website traffic data stored inside Google Analytics to complete the first part of the equation. To get this access, a Google Analytics Administrator for the website(s) data you wish to access needs to grant those permissions to a Google Account. You can then use this Google Account to connect Google Analytics accounts inside Agorapulse.

I can't find the Google Analytics account I'm looking for inside Agorapulse

If you can't find any Google Analytics account associated with the Google Account or Gmail address you selected, you might not have access rights to Google Analytics for that specific Google Account. Here's how to make sure:

Open the Google Analytics website: https://analytics.google.com

On the top right-hand corner of Google Analytics, pick the Google Account you used to connect a Google Analytics account to Agorapulse.

If you end up on the above screen, it means the Google Account you picked doesn't currently have access rights to any Google Analytics accounts

If you end up on a view like the above one, click on the account list next to the Google Analytics logo and name

If you are trying to access a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) account

Under "Properties & App" you'll see all the properties you currently have the right to access. You need to have access rights to an account and a property to be able to import Google Analytics 4 insights into Agorapulse and measure the impact of your social presence.

If you don't see any properties, or if the property you're looking for isn't listed, it means you do not have the necessary access to add that/those specific(s) Google Analytics Property inside Agorapulse.

If you are trying to access a Universal Analytics (UA) account (deprecated July 2023)

Under "Views" you'll see all the views you currently have the right to access. You need to have access rights to an account, a property and a specific view to be able to import Universal Analytics insights into Agorapulse and measure the impact of your social presence.

If you don't see any views, or if the view you're looking for isn't listed, it means you do

not have the necessary access to add a Google Analytics View inside Agorapulse.

What can I do if I don't have access to the necessary property (GA4) or view (UA)?

You have two options:

  • You'll need to contact the Google Analytics admin for that view so they can grant you access. Any access rights level, starting with "Viewer" and up to

"Administrator", will allow you to connect a Google Analytics account to Agorapulse

  • Alternatively, if you have a colleague with the necessary access rights, you can also invite them inside Agorapulse: they will be able to add the Google Analytics account, property or view. Once it's done, you'll be able to access it from Agorapulse, even if you don't have the rights to access that specific view inside Google Analytics. This happens because adding a Google Analytics account and view inside Agorapulse adds it for the whole Agorapulse account, not a specific user.
