What metrics are used in Competitors benchmark? What if I'm missing metrics?

The Competitors benchmarking feature provides 6 main metrics to benchmark your Page against your competitors:

  • Total Fans (last count retrieved from the page)

  • Talking about this (page likes, post likes, comments and shares for the last 7 days)

  • Fan posts (total number of posts made by fans on your Page. There is absolute number for the time period selected and an average number per day)

  • Page posts (total number of posts published by the Page. There is absolute number for the time period selected and an average number per day)

  • Interactions (Total number of post likes, comments and shares for the selected time period and an average per post)

  • Engagement (% of your total engaged fans, and an average % per post)

The color coding helps you better understand the figures:

  • Green = when you have the best figure

  • Fade green = when you are above the average of all the competitors but you don't have the best figure

  • Fade orange = when you are below the average of all the competitors but you don't have the worst figure

  • Orange = when you have the worst figure

Total number of fans is only available for the last day of the selected time period.

People Talking About This is only available for the last 7 days.

All other metrics pertain to the selected 30-day period.

Don't hesitate to mouse over the tooltips (question marks) to check the definition of each metric.

Please note that for regional/location pages, we can't get the actual fan count for given location page without a valid token. The default publicly available fan count for such pages are always the global fan count - we can only get this global fan count from the Facebook Graph API.

Missing or incomplete metrics for some of the competitors

If you don't see any data in your competitors comparison sheet, this will be due to 3 reasons:

First: you've just added a new competitor. We synchronize competitors' page data once a day, at midnight London time. So if you've just added a competitor, you'll need to wait until the next day to see its data.

Second: the selected competitor has not published any posts during the last 30 days. If this is the case, the page post, interactions and engagement metrics will be equal to "0". Check that specific page to check the date of the last post they published.

Third : the selected competitor is a "restricted" page. Most often this is the case for a pages concerning alcohol or are restricted to a specific country. We retrieve your competitors' data through Facebook's API, which does not provide public data for pages that have restricted access either by age or to specific countries.

This is also true of individual posts. If a page restricts one or more posts geographically, those posts will not appear in competitive metrics. Some pages target all posts.

*We only have data for a competitors profile going back 30 days from the date it was added to Agorapulse.
