Changes to Facebook Messenger API (Dec 16, 2020)
Updated over 11 months ago

As of now, Facebook has restored some of the features previously disabled. Please refer below for more details. If you're interested for more details you can follow official changelog here.

Early December 2020 Facebook has announced changes to Messenger API which affect how Facebook Messages are going to be handled in Agorapulse. All third-party apps and developers are affected by the changes. You can read FB doc here.

Impacts on Agorapulse users:

  • you're not allowed to upload video, audio or file (e.g. PDF) attachments to Facebook Private messages (UPDATE: it's now possible to send attachments in Private messages, however we've not yet made the necessary development to allow it in Agorapulse UI)

  • you won't receive and see video, audio or file attachments in incoming Facebook Private messages (UPDATE: it's now possible to receive and display media attachments in Private messages - this has been fully restored in Agorapulse)

  • changes will also impact Instagram Stories metrics:

    • for Stories created by users in Europe, the engagement (replies) metric will now return a value of 0

    • For Stories created by users outside of Europe, the engagement (replies) metric will return the number of replies, but replies made by users in Europe will not be included

For more details and information, you can follow Facebook documentation here.
