YouTube Data Policy Update (Nov 2024)

YouTube has changed their data policy. This applies in the case of token loss.

Updated over a month ago

Due to a change in YouTube data and branding policy, there will be a few changes in our application that apply on Tuesday, 19th November 2024 related to token loss and data displayed in Agorapulse.

For the security of your accounts, social networks provide us with authorization tokens that are only valid for a limited time. These tokens act as a digital passkey to access your social accounts through the relevant API.

In specific reference to YouTube, certain circumstances can cause the loss of your token. When this happens, only an Admin on the YouTube account (or an organization Manager/Owner) may renew the token by following the steps outlined in this article: Token Management.

While the YouTube token is invalid:

  • All YouTube reports will be inaccessible (including scheduled exports)

  • You will not be able to use any Agorapulse features in coordination with your YouTube account

What happens if my YouTube token is lost?

If a YouTube token has been lost (or is invalid) and it is renewed within 7 days there will be no change to your account or loss of data.

If a YouTube token is invalid for more than 7 days, ALL data attached to this YouTube account will be deleted from Agorapulse. This includes data across all tools/features (including historical data).

We have included two scenarios below to help outline the change:

  1. A YouTube token is lost on Nov 19th 2024. The token is renewed on Nov 25th 2024. There will be no loss of data.

  2. A YouTube token is lost on Nov 24th 2024. The token is renewed on Dec 12th 2024. We can sync up to 32 days of historical data. All data prior to the 32 days is not retrievable.

In case a profile is removed from an organization and you decide to reconnect the page to Agorapulse, the same principles apply.

How far back can Agorapulse sync historical YouTube data?

After a YouTube account is connected or a YouTube token is renewed, we synchronize 60 days of audience data and 32 days of content related data.
