How to boost a Facebook post in Agorapulse

Learn how to boost Facebook posts in Agorapulse during scheduling or after publishing!

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Boosting a Facebook post allows you to increase its reach by turning it into a paid promotion. In Agorapulse, you can boost posts either during scheduling or after they have been published via Agorapulse.

In order to boost a Facebook post, you must first connect an ad account.

You can only boost scheduled or published Facebook posts. It is not possible to boost Instagram posts, Facebook Stories, or unpublished drafts. Posts that are already being boosted or that were previously boosted cannot be boosted again in Agorapulse.

In this article, we will outline:

Please Note: Boosting a Facebook post is only available to users on a Custom subscription plan. Please reach out to our support team if you would like access to this feature.

How to boost a Facebook post during post creation

You can set up boosting at the same time you create a Facebook post in the Publishing Composer. This ensures the promotion starts automatically once the post is published.

To boost a post during creation:

  1. Select a Facebook profile and add your post content (text, images, or video)

  2. In the Facebook options panel, click Boost this post

  3. Select the Facebook Ad Account to be used for billing and reporting

  4. Select the targeted Gender & Age range
Saved and lookalike audiences from Meta Ads Manager are not supported

  5. Select one or multiple Location Type (s) and use the search bar to add one or more locations

  6. Add Interests by searching for relevant keywords

  7. Set the boosting schedule: either choose a specific start date and time or, under the On publishing date tab, select a duration for the boost

  8. Enter your Total Budget in the ad account’s currency

  9. Review the Estimated Reach shown on the right-hand side to see the approximate audience size for your selected parameters

  10. Click Save boost. The boost will begin automatically once the post is published and approved by Facebook.

Note: If the post contains restricted content (e.g. political, employment, housing, or cryptocurrency topics), boosting may be rejected by Facebook.

How to boost a published Facebook post

You can also boost Facebook posts that have already been published through Agorapulse.

To boost a published Facebook post from the Publishing Calendar:

  1. Select the relevant Facebook post from the Publishing Calendar to open the Published Post View

  2. Click the Post actions menu and select Boost this post
ThePost actions menu is not available for posts published natively

  3. Select the Facebook Ad Account to be used for billing and reporting

  4. Select the targeted Gender & Age range
Saved and lookalike audiences from Meta Ads Manager are not supported

  5. Select one or multiple Location Type (s) and use the search bar to add one or more locations

  6. Add Interests by searching for relevant keywords

  7. Set the boosting schedule: either choose a specific start/end date and time or, under the On publishing date tab, select a duration for the boost

  8. Enter your Total Budget in the ad account’s currency

  9. Review the Estimated Reach shown on the right-hand side to see the approximate audience size for your selected parameters

  10. Click Save boost. The boost will begin automatically once it has been approved by Facebook.

Facebook will review the boosted post before it goes live. The campaign ends automatically if the post is deleted or edited. Posts that are already boosted or have completed a previous boost cannot be boosted again in Agorapulse.

Facebook Post Boosting Limitations

  • If the post contains restricted content (e.g. political, employment, housing, or cryptocurrency topics), it may be rejected.

  • If a boosted post is edited or deleted, the campaign will end automatically.

  • Agorapulse does not support carousel posts, multiple creatives, pixel tracking, split testing, or setting campaign objectives. Use Meta Ads Manager for these options.

  • Boosts may fail, especially for video posts, because Agorapulse cannot detect all posts Facebook deems eligible. Failed boosts still publish, and no money is charged unless the boost succeeds.

  • A valid ad token is required; if it expires, all boosts will fail.

  • Common reasons for failure: overly restrictive targeting, insufficient budget, or a restricted account.

  • Not possible in Agorapulse: advanced targeting, predefined audiences, selecting existing campaigns, boosting across multiple pages/dates in one group (split or customize posts instead), boosting draft or queued posts, dragging boosted posts in the calendar.

  • Boosts applied directly on Facebook are not visible in Agorapulse.
