Connect & manage your ad accounts

Here, we outline the steps to connect ad accounts and the process of renewing ad tokens.

Updated over a week ago

If you want Agorapulse to sync all comments under your ads and also gain the ability to boost your Facebook posts directly within Agorapulse, you'll need to connect your ad account. In this article we will show how to manage and add your ad accounts for TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.

Connecting an ad account

In order to connect an ad account, follow the steps below:

IMPORTANT: To connect a Meta ad account you must have an advertiser or admin role on the ad account. Please refer to this article on how to check your role.

  1. Go to Organization settings > Profile settings

  2. Select your Facebook or Instagram profile

  3. Next, click Ad Accounts > Connect account button

  4. If asked, please confirm the permissions by clicking OK

  5. Then, we'll list all your ad accounts - you can select one or more ad accounts by checking the checkbox

  6. Proceed by clicking Next when ready (you can change your ad account selection by returning to the previous step)

  7. Finalize the setup by clicking the Add button

  8. Confirm your settings

How to renew your ad token

If your ad token is invalidated there are several ways how we'll notify you:

You'll receive a notification in Agorapulse

You'll receive an email notification

You'll see warnings in the tool, with a call to action button

The easiest way how to renew the ad token(s) is to click on Manage ad account tokens button - this will take you to the Ad account settings where you can renew it:

  1. You'll see a list of all ad accounts that you've linked - if there is lost ad token on any of them, this will be indicated by yellow "!" icon

  2. Click on the Edit icon (or the yellow "!" icon) and then Renew token

  3. You'll be asked to grant permissions - please accept them by clicking the Continue button (we'll need them to be able to sync ad comments)

  4. You're done - if your ad token was renewed successfully, you'll see the green "check mark" icon.

A few things to remember:

  • For Meta profiles:
    - You will only be able to renew your own ad token (tied to your Facebook account), you won't be able to renew others' tokens.
    - You need to have a role (Advertiser or above) on the Ad Account - having a role (even Admin) on the Facebook Page is not enough.

  • An ad account can have ad tokens from several people, but only 1 valid ad token is enough for Agorapulse to sync ad comments for your profile.

  • Please whitelist app.agorapulse.com domain in AdBlocker (or similar services) to be able to work with ad accounts.

  • Warnings about lost ad tokens disappear as soon as:

    • You disable the concerned ad account(s) (with toggle in the Ad account settings)

    • You remove the concerned ad account(s)

    • You successfully renew the concerned ad token

Difference between having Admin role on a Facebook Page and having Admin role on a Facebook Ad Account

There is a difference between being an Admin or having Full Control on a Facebook Page (= administering Facebook Page) and being an Admin or having Full Control on a Facebook Ad Account (= administering Ad Account).

Admin on Facebook Page

If you are using Business Manager, you can check on which Facebook Pages you are Admin by following these steps:

  1. Select the correct Business Account

  2. Select Settings

  3. Under Users select People

  4. Choose your name

  5. You can check your role(s) on the right side

Admin on Facebook Ad Account

If you are using Business Manager, you can check whether you are Admin on a given Ad Account by following these steps:

  1. Under Accounts select Ad accounts

  2. Choose the corresponding ad account

  3. Click on the Ad account access tab

  4. Make sure you're listed among the people managing the given ad account

Important: Please note that in order to configure your Facebook Ad Account in Agorapulse (to have your ad comments synced), you need to have the role Advertiser or above (Classic Page) or Partial Access with Manage Campaign permission enabled (New Page Experience) on the Ad Account. Having a role (even Admin/Full Control) on the Facebook Page is not enough.
