This article describes what a token is and how to reconnect tokens when they are dropped

A token is a piece of information that allows a system, like Agorapulse, to establish a connection with the social profiles you manage on various platforms. It's like a virtual passkey, that ensures you have the necessary permissions to manage these profiles through Agorapulse.

Tokens can become invalid or expire for a few reasons. These include:

  • a password change on the social network

  • a change in your role or permissions on a social profile

  • automatic expiration - due to stricter security protocols from some social networks that require a new token to be generated every 60 days


How to identify tokens that are about to expire?

To quickly identify which tokens are about to expire, go to the Organization settings > Social profiles menu.

Browse the list of profiles and check the banner for each profile. For easier viewing of a long list of profiles, you can filter the profiles by social network. There are different colour banners to signify different states for the token:

  • a green banner shows a valid token and indicates how many days are left before the token expires

  • a blue banner identifies tokens with no set expiration time

  • a red banner identifies tokens that are already expired and need to be renewed


How to identify expired tokens?

To quickly identify which tokens have already expired (or dropped), you can view that in the Organization settings > Social profiles menu.

You can identify them by browsing your list of profiles and checking the ones with a red information banner.

Another way to identify an expired token is through the Inbox view of the profile. If the token for the profile is expired you will see the Page Disconnected message on that screen.


How to renew tokens?

To renew your tokens go to Organization settings > Social profiles or Workspaces settings > Social profiles if Workspaces are enabled on your Agorapulse organization.

Note: Organization Owners and Managers can access these settings.

Only Members who have been given Manage profiles permission can access these settings.

From the Social profiles settings, click on the Renew icon for the specific profile.

Alternatively, you can filter for the social network and click on the Refresh [network] token button. This will refresh the token for all social profiles of that network.


How to know if my token has been refreshed successfully?

If your token has been renewed successfully, the banner under the profile name will be green and show how many days left until the token expires.

The Token expires info should be set in the future.


How do I know if my token has not been refreshed?

If your token fails to renew you will notice the banner on the profile information box will be red, confirming that we have not been able to refresh your token.

Please ensure you are logged in to the correct Social network account then try again.

You should also ensure that the permissions granted to you on the social network have not changed.
