If you're in Europe (except for France), you shouldn't pay VAT if you entered a valid VAT number when you subscribed. You can check your VAT number here if you have any question.

If you're in Europe and you don't enter a valid VAT number, VAT will be applied to your invoice according to your country’s rate (your country is verified with your IP address, your billing info and your credit card zip code)

Once you have subscribed, you can edit your billing information anytime here so that you are not wrongly charged :)
