Setting Up Commerce Manager for Product Tagging on Instagram

Are you ready to take advantage of the Instagram feature that allows you to tag products in your posts, reels, and carousels directly from Agorapulse? Here's how to set up an Instagram shop and start tagging!

How to Set Up Instagram Shop in Commerce Manager?

In order to use the Product Tagging feature on Instagram, you will need to set up a Commerce Manager account on Meta.

Before you begin, make sure you have an Instagram Professional account (Business/Creator) and a website where you can sell physical products. Both your Instagram account and website must comply with the Meta Commerce eligibility requirements.

Here's how to set up an Instagram shop and start tagging your products!

1. Open Commerce Manager. Click Next.

2. Choose checkout method

The easiest option is "checkout on another website," which redirects users to your website to make a purchase. Note that the "checkout with Facebook or Instagram" option is only available for US-based businesses.

3. Choose your sales channels

You’ll only see the Pages and Instagram accounts you have admin access to.

4. Enter your business email address

5. Add your products or create a new catalog

6. Add your website URL

7. Add your shipping destinations

8. Agree to the Seller Agreement. Click on Finish setup.

How to easily set up a Commerce Manager account via Shopify?

Alternatively, if you have a Shopify online store, you can easily set up a Commerce Manager account via Shopify.

Make sure you meet the requirements:

Here's how to set up an Instagram shop via Shopify and start tagging your products!

1. Go to your Shopify account.

2. Click Sales Channels.

3. Select Facebook & Instagram and then Add App.

4. Click Add Sales Channel to complete the installation.

5. Click Start Setup.

7. Click Connect your account and sign into your Facebook account.

8. Follow the prompts to install features for Commerce, Ads and the setup of a Meta pixel.

9. Accept the terms and conditions.

10. Click Submit.

Once you've connected your Shopify account to Meta, your collections in Shopify sync to Instagram, and you're ready to tag products on Instagram using Agorapulse's new feature!

Note that your Commerce Account Health Evaluation score is important, as a low score may result in Meta blocking your Instagram shop. For more information on how the evaluation works, and tips on how to improve your score, visit Meta's help center.

⚠️ Important information

Due to a change in the Instagram API that is out of our control, some countries will no longer be able to access the Product Tagging feature if they haven't activated the 'Instagram check-out' option in their Meta Commerce Manager.

What is Instagram check-out? This means paying directly on Instagram when you click on a product tag. The user is no longer redirected to a website to be able to purchase an item.

Only 21 countries will be able to continue using the product tagging feature even if they haven't enabled Instagram checkout. Here is the list of these 21 countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, the UK and Ukraine.
