The AI Writing Assistant helps you create or improve social media copy directly in the Publishing Composer. Use it to write from scratch, rephrase existing posts, adjust tone or length, or translate content into other languages.
The assistant is available during post creation and when customizing content for individual social profiles.
You may also leverage AI during post creation when adding alternative text to images.To complete the post creation and scheduling process, please follow the steps in this article.
Please Note: The AI Writing Assistant is available depending on the subscription plan you have. If you would like to change your plan to access this feature, feel free to reach out to us here. The AI Writing Assistant is not available to users on a free trial.
How to use the AI Writing Assistant
The AI Writing Assistant can be used in two ways depending on where you are in the post creation process:
To create content from scratch when the Your post field is empty, using a custom prompt.
To optimize existing copy when content has already been added to the Your post field, using quick actions or your own prompt.
Instructions for both options are detailed below.
How to use the AI Writing Assistant to create new post copy
If the Your post field is empty when opening the AI Writing Assistant, it will start in Empty Mode. This mode allows you to generate new content using a custom prompt.
To use the AI Writing Assistant to generate post copy:
Open the Publishing Composer
Leave the Your post text field empty
Click the ✨ Writing Assistant icon
In the prompt field, enter a request such as:
“Write a short promotional post for a webinar”
“Create a fun Instagram caption about summer holidays”
Click Send Prompt
The generated result appears below your prompt. From here, you can:
Click Send to Composer to add the result to the Your post field
Click Copy to save the result to your clipboard
Click Retry to generate a new variation using the same prompt
How to use the AI Writing Assistant to optimize existing post copy
If content already exists in the post field, the Writing Assistant opens in Normal Mode. This mode allows you to refine or adapt your draft.
To use the AI Writing Assistant to optimize post content:
Draft your post in the Your post text field
Click the ✨ Writing Assistant icon
The assistant opens in Normal Normal Mode with your original text displayed at the top
You can apply any of the following quick actions:
Shorter - Condenses your message
Longer - Expands the message
Rephrase - Rewrites the copy
Translate in... - Translates into another supported language
Tone options - Adjust tone:
Promotional
Engaging
Catchy
Inspirational
Assertive
Funny
Shocking
After each quick action or prompt, a new result appears below the original text. For the latest version, you can:
Click Send to Composer to add the text to the Your post field
Click Copy to save the text to your clipboard
Click Retry to regenerate the prompt result with a new variation
You can also enter a custom prompt:
Click Enter your own prompt beneath the quick actions
Write a custom instruction, such as:
“Make this more formal for LinkedIn”
“Add emojis and hashtags for a product launch”
Click Send Prompt
If you would like to start over:
Click Start from scratch
The Your post field will be cleared, and the assistant will switch to Empty Mode
You can then follow the steps in the previous section
Note: The Start from scratch option is available once per session and disappears after use.
How to write a successful prompt for the AI Writing Assistant
To get high-quality results from the Writing Assistant, keep these tips in mind:
Be specific about your goal
✓ “Write a short, catchy caption for a holiday sale”
✗ “Write something for social media”Include the tone or format you want
✓ “Make this sound professional for LinkedIn”
✓ “Add emojis and 2 hashtags”Mention the platform or audience if relevant
✓ “Rewrite this for Instagram Stories”
✓ “Make this engaging for a Gen Z audience”Use plain language. Avoid overly complex instructions or jargon.
You can experiment freely by using the Retry option or various quick actions to test different variations.
