Can I create collaborative posts for Instagram on Agorapulse?
Updated over a week ago

Yes! It is possible to create Instagram collaborative posts directly from Agorapulse in just a few easy steps.

What are collaborative posts for Instagram?

An Instagram Collaboration post is a unique post visible in the Feeds or Reels of two separate accounts, showcasing two users as its creators. Using collab posts comes with benefits such as:

  • Reaching a wider audience

  • Increasing your engagement and gaining more followers

How to create Instagram collaborative posts?

Open the composer, select an Instagram account and start creating your post. Under the Instagram options section, you will see the Invite collaborator(s) button.

When you click on this button, a new window will open, this is where you can invite up to 3 other Instagram accounts as collaborators for your post. Simply search for the accounts, click Add and then Save collaborators when you are finished.

Note: We are not able to verify the usernames you enter. However, we do give you the option to verify the username exists. Simply click on the button next to the username, this will open up the Instagram account natively on another web page.

After you have selected the collaborators you wish to invite, you do have the option to edit these or remove all of them.

When you are happy with your post and selected the accounts you wish to be collaborators, you can schedule the post or publish it as normal.

Note: If any of the accounts you have invited to be collaborators are set to Private or have restricted profiles, your post will fail to publish. This is because the Instagram API only allows accounts that are public and are not restricted.

How do the collaborators accept my invitation?

Once the post has been published all the following steps happen on Instagram (not on Agorapulse). The invited collaborators are notified that they were added as collaborators on your post and have the option to either accept or reject the invitation:

  • If they accept, their name appears next to the name of the original creator of the post and the post appears on their Instagram profile/on their follower's feed

  • If they reject the invitation, their name doesn't appear next to the name of the original creator of the post but they appear as tagged on the image (so the post appears in the 'Tagged' tab of their Instagram profile)

Important information

  • We don't check the status of the invitations sent to collaborators. This means you can't rely on Agorapulse to know if the collaborators accepted or rejected the invitation. You will have to check this on Instagram directly.

  • Our previews only show the name of the original creator of the post (the one that invited collaborators).

  • Posts, where you have been added as a collaborator, are not synced on Agorapulse. Collab posts are only displayed on Agorapulse in the organization hosting the profile which is the original creator of the post. So if you're not the original creator of the post but one of its collaborators, even though you appear as a co-author on Instagram after you accepted the invitation, the post won't show on your Agorapulse organization.

Note: Being able to invite collaborators to your Instagram posts is available depending on the subscription plan you have. If you would like to change your plan to access this feature, feel free to reach out to us here.
