Learn how to publish an Instagram Reel through Agorapulse!

Updated today

When publishing a single video to an Instagram profile, the Reel post type will automatically be selected. For more information on how to create a post and specific specifications for Instagram publishing, please take a look at the articles below:

In this article, we will clarify:

What content can be posted as an Instagram Reel?

Instagram Reels must be created using a video file in one of the following formats: MOV and MP4. The video must be within 3 seconds - 15 minutes and less than 1GB in size. The maximum width for an Instagram Reel is 1920px

Additional publishing specifications may be found here.

After uploading a single video to an Instagram profile in the Add media section of the Publishing Composer, a post will automatically be classified as an Instagram Reel.

It is not possible to post an Instagram Reel with more than one video attached (or with any images attached). Any post that includes more than one file will automatically be classified as a Post (Carousel) post type.

Please Note: If a single video is uploaded to Agorapulse, the only post types available will be Reel (Default) or Story. A single video may not be added as Post (Carousel) post type.

How to publish an Instagram Reel

To publish an Instagram Reel while in the Publishing Composer:

  1. Select an Instagram profile from the Social Profiles menu

  2. Enter any text associated to the post in the Your Post dialogue box

  3. Add a video in the Media upload box

  4. Enter Social Media Options per social media profile
    a) Enable/disable the Also share to Feed option (enabled by default)*

  5. Upload or choose a custom thumbnail

  6. Schedule the post or Publish Now

* When this option is enabled, after publishing, the Instagram Reel appears both in the account's Reel tab and in its grid view. When this option is disabled, after publishing, the Instagram Reel only appears in the account's Reel tab.

Note: Due to API limitations, Instagram Reels scheduled from Agorapulse can only use original audio at this time. To add custom audio to your Reel, you may schedule your Reel post from Agorapulse, and enable the Publish via push notification option.
